On the influence of resonance photon scattering on atom interference

چکیده
Here, the influence of resonance photon-atom scattering on the atom interference pattern at the exit of a three-grating Mach-Zehnder interferometer is studied. It is assumed that the scattering process does not destroy the atomic wave function describing the state of the atom before the scattering process takes place, but only induces a certain shift and change of its phase. We find that the visibility of the interference strongly depends on the statistical distribution of transferred momenta to the atom during the photon-atom scattering event. This also explains the experimentally observed (Chapman et al 1995 Phys. Rev. Lett. 75 2783) dependence of the visibility on the ratio dp/λi = y 12(2π/kdλi), where y 12 is distance between the place where the scattering event occurs and the first grating, k is the wave number of the atomic center-of-mass motion, d is the grating constant and λi is the photon wavelength. Furthermore, it is remarkable that photon-atom scattering events happen experimentally within the Fresnel region, i.e. the near field region, associated with the first grating, which should be taken into account when drawing conclusions about the relevance of “which-way” information for the interference visibility. Correlation signals in resonance fluorescence : interpretation via photon scattering amplitudes
Resonance fluorescence is treated as a collision process where incident laser photons are scattered by an atom. Correlation signals are extracted from an expansion to the second order of the post collision field state. Photon antibunching effect appears as a quantum interference between al1 the possible scattering amplitudes. When Rayleigh photons are rejected, some amplitudes vanish, leading t...
متن کاملScattering mechanism of nonmagnetic phase on nano diluted magnetic semiconductors (DMS)
This paper shows the scattering mechanism at diluted magneticsemiconductors. The doped magnetic atom produces a scattering potential due to becoupled of itinerant carrier spin of host material with magnetic momentum of the dopedmagnetic atom. Formulas of scattering event were rewritten by the plane waveexpansion and then the electron mobility of DMS was calculated. Calculations showKondo effect...
متن کاملA Non-Demolition Photon Counting Method by Four-Level Inverted Y-Type Atom
The semi-classical model of atom-field interaction has been fully studied for some multilevel atoms, e.g. Vee, L, Cascade X , Y, and inverted Y and so on. This issue is developed into the full-quantum electrodynamics formalism, where the probe and coupling electromagnetic fields are quantized. In this article, we investigate the full-quantum model of absorption and dispersion spectrum of trappe...

We study the resonance Raman scattering of light from a three-level atom embedded in a photonic band-gap material or in a frequency dispersive medium whose photon spectrum exhibits a gap due to photon coupling to medium excitations such as excitons and optical phonons. We demonstrate that the one-particle spectrum of the system consists of either a continuous part with energy lying outside the ...
